Questions about the Panchang
- What is the Jain Panchang?
- The Jain Panchang tracks tithi, paksha and the Jain month so fasting days, festivals and auspicious timings can be kept correctly through the year.
- Why does the tithi change with my location?
- The day’s tithi is the one prevailing at local sunrise. Change city (or allow location) and sunrise shifts — so the tithi can shift with it.
- What is choghadiya used for?
- Choghadiya divides the day and night into time slots that are considered favourable or unfavourable, and is commonly consulted before starting travel or important work.
- How do tradition overrides work?
- On a small number of boundary dates the astronomical calculation and the VJSS Jain reference diverge. Those days are listed in overrides/tithi.ts in the shared panchang package so tradition wins.
